Classic Beef Burger with Big Mac Sauce

This classic beef burger with homemade Big Mac-style sauce brings the iconic fast-food flavour to your kitchen.  Juicy patties, melty cheese, and crisp toppings are layered with a tangy, creamy sauce for the ultimate burger experience. Serves 4.  

Ingredients  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil 
  • 600g classic beef burgers 
  • 4 slices cheese of choice 
  • 1 onion, sliced into circles  
Burger Toppings 
  • 8 lettuce leaves 
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced 
  • 4-8 pickles 
Big Mac Sauce  
  • ½ cup mayonnaise 
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice 
  • 1 tsp mustard 
  • 1 tsp white vinegar 
  • 1 tsp tomato sauce 
  • 1 pickle, finely diced 
  • 1 pinch salt & pepper 
Method 
  1. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, pickle juice, mustard, vinegar, tomato sauce, finely diced pickle, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Chill until ready to use. 
  2. Cook the Onion: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook onion slices until soft and golden. Set aside. 
  3. Cook the Burgers: In the same pan, add remaining oil and cook beef patties for 3–4 minutes per side or until cooked to your liking. Add cheese slices on top during the last minute to melt. 
  4. Assemble the Burgers: Layer each bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, cooked onion, a cheesy beef patty, and a generous spoonful of Big Mac sauce. Top with the bun lid and serve immediately. 
Tip: Lightly toasting your burger buns in the pan or oven adds flavour and prevents them from getting soggy from the sauce and toppings.
