Stir Fry Chicken with Orange

If you’re a fan of vibrant flavours and crave a perfect blend of sweet and savory, then you’re in for a treat with this Orange Chicken Stir Fry recipe.  Imagine tender chicken pieces coated in a luscious, tangy orange sauce that’s both zesty and slightly sweet.  It’s the kind of meal that brings joy to the table, turning any dinner into a special occasion.  Whether you’re cooking for your family, entertaining guests, or simply looking for a new and different recipe to add to your repertoire, this Orange Chicken is sure to impress (Serves 4-6). 

Ingredients:

Chicken 
  • 1 tbsp sesame seed oil  
  • 500g chicken thighs 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder  
  • 1 pinch salt 
  • 1 pinch white pepper 
Orange Sauce  
  • 2/3 cup orange juice  
  • 2 tsp orange zest 
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar 
  • 1 tbsp honey 
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar 
  • 1 ½ tbsp salt reduced soy sauce 
  • ½ tbsp sriracha  
  • ½ tbsp ginger, minced 
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced 
  • 1 pinch salt 
  • 1 pinch white pepper 
  • 1 tbsp corn starch, fully dissolved and mixed with 3 tbsp of water  
Vegetables and Rice  
  • 4 cups jasmine rice 
  • 2 bunch broccolini, cut into small florets  
  • 2 carrots, sliced  
  • 1 capsicum, thinly sliced  
  • 4 small mushrooms  
  • ½ cup edamame beans  
To Serve 
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds 
  • 1 spring onion, finely chopped  

Method:

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside. 
  2. Cut chicken into strips and coat with garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Heat large saucepan or wok, add sesame seed oil and chicken pieces.  Cook chicken for 8 minutes or until slightly browned.  Remove chicken from saucepan or wok and set aside.  
  3. Add orange sauce to the saucepan and simmer for 1-2 minutes or until sauce thickens.  Add vegetables, chicken and stir fry for 3-5 minutes. 
  4. Serve chicken on a bed of rice and top with sesame seeds and spring onions.
