Homemade Curry Spice Mix

I keep a cupboard full of spices.  I love it as I have whatever I need on hand to make any of our homemade spice recipes.  Making your own spices is a great alternative to store bought spices.  They are fresh and have no preservatives or fillers in them.  It also means you can change up the flavour slightly of any of your favourite mixes.  You can always add a little extra chili for those family members that like it spicy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground cardamon
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 3 tbsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp dry, ground mustard (this can be hard to find so buy yellow mustard seeds and grind yourself if you can)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Method:

  1. Add all your spices to a cute airtight jar, label and store in the cupboard until ready to use.
  2. Try your homemade curry powder in this slow cooked chicken recipe.  It’s delicious.
