Asado Beef Ribs

Asado ribs aren’t just for the BBQ.  This oven-baked Asado ribs recipe is a great option when you want that rich, smokey flavour without firing up the BBQ.  Very simple to prepare and slow-cooked for just 3 hours so are perfect for those days when you make it home a little earlier from work. You’ll have tender, juicy ribs with a beautifully caramelised crust that tastes like you’ve been tending a fire all day. You can easily customise the spice mix to suit your taste—whether you like a little heat, a hint of sweetness, or something more traditional. Just pop them in the oven, and let the slow cooking do the rest. These Asado-style ribs are perfect for impressing your family mid-week or a weekend entertaining friends.

Ingredients:

  • Asado Beef Ribs – allow 1 rack per person
  • Your favourite spice mix.  Try our Cajun or Taco homemade spice mix recipe

Method:

  1. Find your largest baking dish
  2. Pour a cup of water into the bottom of your dish
  3. Lay the Asado Beef Ribs into the dish
  4. Liberally sprinkle your spice mix over all the ribs
  5. Peel off a piece of baking paper about the size of your dish.  Scrunch it up in your hand and then unfold and lay over your ribs
  6. If your baking dish has a lid pop it on or grab some al-foil and tightly seal the baking dish
  7. Cook at 150 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours
  8. Remove foil and baste with a sauce and cook for about 10 minutes to brown the top and make the sauce sticky.  You can skip the sauce but not the browning option
  9. Serve with a crisp green salad, corn on the cob or some grilled pineapple
